Who We Are

Peace Lutheran Church (PLC) has a rich history that has evolved out of the traditions, liturgies and core teachings of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada. Our congregation has a solid base that the founding families have left as a legacy.

Recognizing a changing environment of church participation and service involvement, it is important that we focus on supporting one another in ways that encourage us to be active participants in God’s work.

God has gifted Peace Lutheran Church with many capable and faith filled people. We wish to empower and equip all PLC members so together we may: enrich the work of ministry through diverse participation; support the work of ministry through personal involvement and deepen the work of ministry by inviting one another into shared responsibility.

Our Values

Lutheran Identity: We celebrate our heritage as Lutheran Christians! As children of God grounded in the gift of faith, we find meaning and purpose not in ourselves or in our accomplishments but in the cross, the living Word, the death and resurrection of Christ and the bread of life.

Spiritual Growth: As people of the resurrection, we are committed to lifelong learning, spiritual growth and creative, authentic worship. We believe in the living Word to empower, shape and form us as God’s children.

God’s Grace: In response to God’s great initiative and His love for us on the cross and empty tomb, we treasure and recognize all people. We regard all people as important. In the spirit of compassion, we nurture and forgive one another.

Servant Leadership: Being lifted up by your leaders. Servant leadership seeks the well-being and fulfillment of the individual persons in the organization as a desired end result.

Affirmation: We place value on each individual in any circumstance, by showing respect, sensitivity, compassion and forgiveness. Affirmation encourages, builds, enables, empowers and ensures the fulfillment of each individual in the church. Affirmation of ourselves and others is the most significant factor influencing the structure and process of our relationships.

Involvement: We allow people the freedom to express ideas, thoughts and feelings about all matters that affect them. Involvement produces a sense of ownership for those who have responsibility related to what they helped to shape and plan. It is directly related to the degree of accountability people accept for their work.

Stewardship: We are grateful for all the talents and gifts God extravagantly bestows on us. We strive to maintain harmony and equilibrium in serving our congregation and community.
